Drone in omnisphere 14/1/2024 All of them fall into either "bleh" or "hmmm. YMMV, but for me it's not the kind of instrument that has sounds that makes me wanna immediately start writing a song with one of them. Film-score, some ambient, industrial style (or whatever you call that garbage). the actual OS part of the OS is an instrument for "composers" who don't need their sounds to have pitch. If you could mark * the sounds that are somewhat decent, and discard the rest into some kind of "junk" folder, that would be nice. Seriously, browsing through several thousand crap sound-alikes is not fun. I wish they had some "marking" feature in the browser, so I could make notes next to the sounds and sort them by those notes. But it seems like it loads patches much faster than AS did. I have Athlon 6400 BE and one big sound with 2-3 notes played eats about 10-15% of CPU power. ![]() But it has autoload feature, so you don't have to click too much. The sound browser can't be operated with the keyboard. Friggingtanstic! And a few guitar sounds. The other 1% consists of variation of awesome choir sound. The bad thing, is that 99% of those sounds sound like they came from a dumpster or made by a monkey. The good thing is that it has probably a few thousand sounds. Just random garbage that you can get by linking a bunch of FX processor in a row and farting into a metal bucket with microphone in it. have those idiots ever mixed a song with one of those sounds? Most of them don't even have a pitch and as such are not musical sounds, just fx. Pretty much all OS's original sounds are drone/bell/metalic crap with the +20dB boost in about 500Hz range. Patch 1.0.2 adds 1000 new AS sounds complete "Atmosphere Library" of patches ( ) Which most likely is the only thing in Omnisphere most normal people will ever use. Main thing is that the only good sounds in OS are the ones marked with "originally appeared in Atmosphere" (although I never saw about 95% of them there, probably added with new patch). ![]() ![]() I didn't dig the features, I'll just say what I noticed from my limited exposure to it. Unless sounds starting with some specific letter are suddenly all better, which I don't think, I feel like I've heard enough to give my impressions. Ok, I've made it to the letter "D" in patch browser (they're sorted alphabetically), haveing auditioned probably a thousand sounds, so I know have a good idea what OS is about.
